When designing the badges and activities for Squirrel Scouts, our goal was to create:
- an age-appropriate programme,
- that meets the Theory of Change,
- and is respected by Early Years practitioners,
- without compromising our Scout values,
- which encourages community and home learning,
- and works in areas of deprivation and for diverse ethnic communities.

Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Squirrel Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.

Challenge Awards
Achieving a Challenge Award involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Squirrel Drey or community.
These Awards support the main themes of the Programme; outdoor and adventure; world and skills. Squirrels take part in a range of activities to develop their skills and understanding in each of the challenge areas.
